Growing the sport locally

OVERstable! Not for the faint hearted, and definitely not for beginners. Has been described as a home-grown Firebird. Feels great in the hand and can literally handle any rip, but needs great arm speed behind it (or wind in front of it) for big distance. Got a mate who thinks they've got the biggest arm? Put a Kiwi in their hands and put them to the test.

PDGA Approved: Yes
Weights: 168-175g

The Kiwi was RPM’s first driver and was previously known as the Raptor and the Taniwha. The latest iteration is a more overstable than the previous versions of the disc and will hold a consistent angle through high speed with a sharp fade to finish.

Model #: DGD1
PDGA Approved: Yes
Diameter: 210mm

The kiwi is a unique and curious bird: it cannot fly, has loose, hair-like feathers, strong legs and no tail. The closest relatives to today’s kiwi are the extinct elephant birds from Madagascar. They are also related to emus and cassowaries of Australia, and the extinct moa of New Zealand. Kiwi can live for between 25 and 50 years.

The kiwi’s egg is one of the largest in proportion to body size (up to 20% of the female’s weight) of any species of bird in the world. Chicks hatch fully feathered. They emerge from the nest to feed at about five days old and are never fed by their parents. Juveniles grow slowly, taking three to five years to reach adult size. Kiwi are a significant national icon, equally cherished by all cultures in New Zealand. Kiwi are a symbol for the uniqueness of New Zealand wildlife and the value of our natural heritage. The Māori language word kiwi is generally accepted to be “of imitative origin” from the call.

Strata

RPM’s base plastic
Strata is opaque, tacky and medium stiffness. This plastic will break in faster, similar to most base plastics.

Cosmic

Semi translucent premium plastic
It's a tough, grippy, partially see-through plastic that comes in a range of stiffness and with a variety of colours and effects. Will break in more slowly, so will maintain its original flight path for longer. We find this to be the most stable plastic from RPM.

Atomic

Tough opaque premium plastic
It's a tough, grippy, opaque plastic that comes in a range of stiffness and with a variety of colours and effects. Will break in more slowly, so will maintain its original flight path for longer. This will often be the easiest to plastic to spot from a distance.

Magma RPM's premium putting plastic
It's a rubbery, softer feeling plastic. Silky and grippy and comes in soft, medium and hard. This is RPM's grippiest plastic, particularly in the rain.
